1) 3/27/2006 What’s In A Life?
Life is beautiful; creation is beautiful, if we will only open our eyes to see it. Life is not only meant to be lived, but to be shared. How often we, mankind, miss this point. This is not the “eat, drink and be merry for today we live and tomorrow we die” mentality that suffocates today’s society and as the foolish rich man found out in Luke 12:19.
It is more.
Luke 12:23
The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
Matthew 16:26
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
But this is the fullness of the expression of love that comes with, in and through God.
Jude 1:21
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Let’s think a little less of ourselves today and notice someone less fortunate than we might be. Let’s share life. Take a moment today and stop, take a deep breath and look closely at everything around you. You will be well surprised at what you see everyday, but never really notice it or them. It will astound you at what you think you see but have never truly seen.
Just noticing is not the end of our responsibility, now we must act, or I should say “REACT” lovingly to what we have discovered. In this “reacting”, our true self will be put on full display to our own eyes. You see in discovering how we see others is a looking glass into our own hearts. How ironic.
Without mercy toward others life is not shared!!!! A shared life is the embodiment of Matthew 22:39 “… Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself…”
1 Corinthians 13:8
…charity (love) never faileth…
1 Corinthians 13:13
…but the greatest of these is charity (love)…
So, what’s in a life? “Life is not only meant to be lived, but to be shared.”
